Author's note: This is my point of view piece. I was going to do in on the second book in this series to only discover that i wasn't far enough into the book to write this on it. So I did this on the first book and how people can't just believe blame a person without looking at the other persons point of view.
In The Rangers Apprentice Will begins on his journey to coming a
ranger. Along the way he runs into some trouble with evil minions of Morgarth.
This story is written in Wills point of view. From his perspective a lot of
events and characters are described in a way that creates a passion to want him
to overcome obstacles during Wills’ journey to become a master ranger.
One
way that Will point of view influence our interpretation is when Will gets in a
fight with Horus. From Will point of view made it look like Horus was the bad
guy and that he started the fight. When really Will was like the younger
sibling, slowly inching him of the cliff until Horus just got sick of it.
However, the reader would feel a lot differently about when Will
and Halt assumed that two creatures were
evil and attack them. If the novel was written in the point of view of Kalkaras. For instance, if you saw someone that was covered in blood what
would you think? Some people would thing that he just hurt someone, while he
was the one who was mugged. That is what happened here. Just because most of
their kind work for Morgarth
doesn’t mean that they do.
As you can see, the point of view of a story forces the reader to
see just one side of an event or topic. In The
Rangers Apprentice the
narrator's perspective makes the reader want to see Will overcome
the odd and defeat evil, when really we
don’t even know who is the good guy in this tail.
If I were a teacher grade my piece I think that I would grade this a 9 out of 10. This is because i did a good job meeting the proficient part but on the advanced part not so much. This didn't have the creative paragraph that would help tell me if you know this 100%. Also this didn't have very specific details.
